EATING DISORDER VS RECOVERY

Sometimes, there is a huge, continuous battle in our heads between having an eating disorder and wanting to recover. Often we may desperately want to recover but cannot push ourselves hard enough to face the consequences that recovery may bring i.e. giving up some forms of control. What can often help to self-motivate is to create a list of pros and cons; why do you want to hold on to the eating disorder? Why do you want to get rid of it? What does it give you... what does it take away? All you need to do is split a page in half, title the left side as 'pros' and the right side as 'cons' and get brainstorming. You'll be surprised at the turnout - you may be more ready to approach and destroy your eating disorder than you think! Below is my own 'pros and cons' list that I created whilst an inpatient. I surprised myself because I expected the pros to be a big long list however it turned out that there were double the amount of cons than pros!
